The Church of Billings - A Story of Unity Through a Night of Worship | Documentary Film

Rating: All Ages

"Billings Night of Worship has been a labor of love over the years with seeds planted and watered through the work of many! In 2015, Josh and Jenna Jones pulled together a group of believers who wanted to see God move in our city! With a few churches in support and a core team, they hosted 6 events over the next 3 years. With their family growing, in 2018 they felt it was time to put the event on hold. However the work they did was not in vain and was preparation for what was to come! We are forever thankful for the seeds they sowed in our city!

In 2020, Pastor Abe Madinger and Jennifer Swant teamed up to bring the event back. Abe had on his heart to see it launched again! His vision was to host it on the Rimrocks, a natural rock formation that runs the entire north side of Billings. This location is over looking Billings and required we bus everyone to the site. Knowing we had a big task at hand, Abe asked Josh and Jenna to join us. We worked together in what Jenna called the “Dream Team.” With Abe as the lead pastor, he was able to bring on 10 churches that first year and we had 2000 people in attendance on Sept 13, 2020. It was an epic evening and was amazing to stand as ONE BODY on the high point over looking the city and declare Jesus as Lord over the city! It was like a huge family reunion as people from churches all over the city gathered!

After that year and knowing how this event would grow, Abe asked Pastors Sean McFarlane and Jacob Schreiner to form an event board with the primary focus of fiscal accountability. By our 3rd year, the Jones felt called to step down and that opened the door for others to step in and help! For our 4th event in 2023, we had 17 sponsor churches!! We have had a variety of pastors help during the event with opening prayers, baptisms, ministry during an alter call and time of healing prayer! Seeing these pastors from a variety of denominations come together, standing side by side to worship and minister, is what makes this so special! We are so thankful for each pastor who has joined us.

Note from the Producer:

When I first heard of the Billings Night of Worship, I was encouraged to hear the body of Christ rallying to worship and reach the lost. It was some time later that I caught the fullness of the story behind the Billings Night of Worship, one in which was centered on a theme of unity within the church body.

What is Jesus able to do for a city when pastors decide to cross denominational lines to join together, pray, and reach the lost?

The Holy Spirit has been highlighting a string of unity for me to tug on within my recent projects. Once I unraveled this a bit and saw the beauty of the body of Christ coming together, I was compelled to tell their story so Kingdom workers would see what Jesus is doing in Billings, and cry out from their heart to see it happen in their body as well.
