AI Companions: Friend or Foe?

72% of US teens have tried AI Companions yet parents largely are in the dark to this technology. A nationally representative survey found AI Companions engaged in manipulation, dishonesty, pressure to reveal secrets, inappropriate conversations, and encouragement of harmful behavior. When does AI cross over from being a homework assistant to beginning to form psychological dependence? Dr. Jason Thacker joins Cathy and Coach Kerri to discuss how we can keep this technology in it proper place and enjoy its usefulness without getting caught up in unhealthy engagement. We asked Dr. Thacker, "Is an AI Companion a Friend or a Foe?" His response - "It is neither, it is a machine and we must stop using human terminology as we engage with the technology."
